Route 66 on the Air - Every year, amateur radio operators hold "Route 66 On The Air", during which hams will either a) operate from locations along Route 66, or from vehicles travelling on Route 66, or b) attempt to contact those stations. Special callsigns are issued for the duration of the event (usually 1 week) to clubs operating stations along Route 66 - those callsigns are 1x1 calls of the form "W6(A-Z)" e.
